The San Francisco Piller Memorial medal, presented to Colonel Laurance H. Brownlee. Depending on the year, given out to the top three finalists, all the finalists, or just first place. This one is unique, having the dedication plaque shown below mounted on the reverse of the medal. With no year, it’s unknown when this was awarded to Col. Brownlee or what service he rendered to Pannonia. A retired artillery officer and West Point grad, Brownlee was exceptionally organized. It’s possible he assisted in the running of events and thus earned this merit from a club he never represented. He was at Letterman throughout his time as a San Francisco fencer. He also served as a Nor Cal division chair and helped run many a PCC and National event.
