The Halberstadt Sabre trophy, 1951. This sabre was presented to the winner of the 1951 Halberstadt Sabre competition, Salvatore Giambra. In all, Giambra won the event 5 times. Each year for this event, Hans Halberstadt would create a unique guard for the sabre trophy. Four of Giambra’s first place sabres are in the Archive’s permanent collection thanks to a generous donation from his daughter. The fifth resides in the archives of San Francisco’s Olympic Club.
