A pin-backed button for the 1957 US National Fencing Championships. Held in Milwaukee, WI, this Nationals was the first where newly arrived Hungarians who had defected to the West as a result of the failed Hungarian Revolution began their decade-long domination of the US Sabre title. From 1957 to 1972, Hungarian-born fencers won 12 of 16 US National Sabre titles. Additionally, prior to 1957, Hungarian-born fencers won 8 of 13 titles stretching back to 1944.
